This 6 star energy rated home is located over looking the beachside natural reserve of Cape Woolamai, just a short stroll from the ocean. The home has minimal aesthetic with an industrial feel, the building is on a suspended concrete slab with steel frame decking, taking the look and feel of the home through both levels. The design and build of this home was sustainably focused while keeping in mind the environment and landscape it was being built in.
This home is highly functional and serviceable. The double storey home has been orientated to make the most of the views to the south and to make the most of solar access from the north.
The 6 star energy rated, heavily insulated home has double glazed windows, 5kW solar power system, water tanks, low VOC paints and water efficient tap ware. It was three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and glimpses of ocean through the picture-window lined open plan living, dining and kitchen.
“We were originally looking to use a Melbourne builder, or perhaps prefab for speed and efficiency, but we decided to canvas local options as well. Once we’d spoken to Mark and Melissa Plant from Beach House Constructions our mind was made up. They just understood what we wanted in terms of vision and were extremely cost effective. They were also willing to go the extra mile to achieve the energy star rating we wanted for the home. It was an easy choice to make.”
“The great thing about Mark and Melissa is that they really listened to what we wanted, and were very adaptable. We had our heart set on a challenging skeletal steel frame balcony feature for the home. Mark’s response was Oh cool! We can do that! The logistics of building this could have been a nightmare but with Beach House nothing was too difficult.”
